When the ReadiWatch does not receive sufficient or consistent sensor information, some periods may appear as invalid data, insufficient data, or excessive off-wrist time.
Invalid periods appear as pink bars in the data. They are not classified as sleep or wakefulness and may interrupt the ReadiScore calculation.
Invalidness with actigraphy
The watch recorded movement but did not receive sufficient sensor data to properly confirm skin contact.
Invalidness without Actigraphy.
The watch did not record sufficient movement or sensor data during the affected period.
A period is considered invalid when the ReadiWatch does not record valid data from one or more sensors, such as infrared, skin contact, or movement data.
When you identify invalid data, first complete the following basic checks with the user before proceeding with additional troubleshooting:
1. Confirm Proper Use
Before taking any further action, confirm the following:
Fit: The watch should remain securely fitted without causing discomfort.
Position: It should be worn on the top or outer side of the wrist, not on the inner side.
Skin contact: The sensors must remain in direct contact with the skin throughout the sleep period.
Obstructions: Clothing or other objects must not cover the sensors.
Tattoos: Avoid positioning the sensors directly over tattoos, as they may interfere with the readings.
Battery: Confirm that the watch has sufficient charge before sleep.
Continuous use: Avoid removing the device during the sleep period.
2. Check the Condition of the ReadiWatch
Confirm that the sensors are clean, dry, and free of scratches, residue, or signs of moisture.
For a complete inspection, refer to: How to Check the Condition of Your ReadiWatch
3. Check the Results
After completing the checks:
Wear the watch during the next sleep period.
Synchronize the device.
Review the recorded data again.
If the data appears correctly, the issue was likely related to the fit, position, or use of the watch.
If the invalid data persists, check the sensor functionality.
4. Reset the ReadiWatch
If the issue continues after completing the previous checks, perform a factory reset and recalibrate the device.
Warning: A factory reset deletes any data stored on the watch that has not yet been synchronized. Synchronize the ReadiWatch before continuing.
After the factory reset and calibration, wear the watch during the next sleep period, synchronize it, and review the results again.
5. Check Sensor Functionality
Complete all tests and collect the evidence requested in the following article:
If the sensors display valid values, continue monitoring the fit and use of the watch.
If any sensor does not respond or displays incorrect values, contact Support and submit the evidence requested in the debug article.
Next Steps
If the issue persists after completing these troubleshooting steps, escalate the case to the Support team for further investigation.
